About Greenovation Air Pressure Testing
Reducing energy bills and carbon footprints by testing domestic and commercial properties dwellings for air permeability levels that comply with Building Regulations
Greenovation is a UK company whose main focus is on providing Air Pressure Testing – aka ‘Building Permeability Testing’ – for residential and commercial properties where environmentally-friendly outcomes are the Number One priority.
The business was launched in 2013 by James Spooner, a building management graduate with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. This includes expertise developed through his other Cheshire-based company, Nantwich Brickwork.
Throughout James’ career, he has been passionate about sustainable construction. The air pressure testing services provided by Greenovation have taken the concept of energy efficiency to its ultimate conclusion.
A range of support services is available to complement air pressure testing. These include cavity wall inspection, endoscopic inspection and thermal imaging where the aim is to minimise energy bills for a wide range of clients.
We’re talking here about architects, developers, public authorities, building contractors and construction professionals, as well as individuals involved with self-build projects, building extensions and renovations.
Sustainable Construction and Professional Recognition
By working with Greenovation, you will be better placed to address construction sustainability issues. Examples include:
- Reducing operational costs
- Improving the use of buildings and energy inputs
- Minimising energy wastage and maximising energy efficiency
- Looking at using renewable energy (and other innovative ways of minimising the impact of energy consumption on the environment).
In an industry which hasn’t always received the best publicity, it’s reassuring for clients that an air pressure testing company like Greenovation has achieved the professional recognition it deserves.
As well as being iATS Registered (which clearly demonstrates the air testing capabilities of Greenovation), the company’s Managing Director, James Spooner, has achieved ‘Chartered Builder’ status.
Greenovation and iATS Registration…
The business is officially registered under the Independent Air-tightness Testing Scheme (iATS) which has replaced the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) as the body responsible for maintaining the professional standards of air-tightness in the UK.
Crucially, iATS registration has enabled Greenovation to extend the scope of its work into both domestic and commercial construction. More specifically, it allows Greenovation to test any building up to 400 cubic metres in size (which complies with L2 requirements under UK Building Regulations).
Greenovation’s Level 1 iATS Accreditation is a measure of the company’s commitment to best professional practice; to keeping abreast of the latest air testing techniques; and its ongoing involvement with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) – and all the customer benefits this brings in maintaining professional standards.
As an iATS-registered consultant, James Spooner has demonstrated competency levels that meet the high standards set out under the scheme. For clients, this means that Greenovation has the professional and physical resources to measure and quantify the key elements of a building’s ‘air tightness’.
Equally important is the company’s capacity to handle the whole process from recommending what action needs to be taken to ensure properties comply with the relevant UK Building Regulations, right through to implementing any remedial work that may be needed.
Chartered Institute of Building Member
Greenovation’s Managing Director, James Spooner, is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIB). He achieved this prestigious professional recognition following a stringent appraisal of his building industry experience and expertise. James’s status as a ‘Chartered Builder’ will give clients additional confidence in his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and professional accountability.
